About the Summer Seminars
The International Society of the Rorschach and Projective Methods has revived a tradition adopted in the early days of the society when well-regarded Rorschach specialists such as Walter Morgenthaler, Margaret Loosli-Usteri, Schachter, Bohm and other outstanding Rorschach colleagues met yearly in Zurich (Switzerland) to discuss about recent research findings and clinical cases.
The Summer Seminars nowadays are held every year in between the world congresses in various countries, focusing on a particular theme.
What makes the Summer Seminars special is that the number attending is limited, to a maximum of 40 participants, in addition to the faculty, allowing participants an opportunity to actively engage in the discussions and the chance to get to know each other. Participants and faculty stay in the same hotel and eat lunch together during 3-days and can join in interesting social programs in the evenings.
We are pleased to welcome members from all over the world, as well as people who are not yet members of the ISR. Participants have commented favourably on the welcoming, friendly and collaborative nature of the Seminars, and we are delighted that many ISR members have attended the Summer Seminars on more than one occasion. We have found English to be the common language and so all the presentations are in English. There will, however, be colleagues who can translate on a more informal basis into other languages when needed, during the lectures/workshops and to help facilitate discussion amongst participants.
The 3 seminar days include a lecture in the morning, followed in the afternoon by a workshop, group and roundtable discussion focusing on one or more case studies. In addition, the Summer Seminars include a social program.
The Summer Seminars also serve an important purpose to raise funds for the Hermann Rorschach Archives and Museum (HRAM) in Bern (Switzerland).
